Dangerous vechicle

Jeff Garzik emailed me asking for comments on his DNS geolocation project. I had some spare time this morning, so released IP::Country::DNSBL.

It's what I do.

There aren't any coders in Qatar. I lie - there are guys programming accountancy packages; I've seen job adverts. No one else is writing real software, and I haven't come across any open-source.

The local computer souk (under the sofitel) doesn't have a single CD copy of any Linux distribution (I asked in every shop). The telephone engineer said he'd never come across another Linux installation in Doha when he connected my DSL. Apple doesn't have a reseller in Qatar.

Why does this matter? Well, personally, it's bleak for me if there's no programming jobs here.

For Qatar, it make me very cynical about whether any software development will happen at QSTP.
